Rockt ganz schön los, die kleine Kanadierin, mag mancher bei Avril Lavignes erstem Hit "Complicated" gedacht haben. Dabei wollte ihr allererstes Plattenlabel ihr noch Balladen à la Celine Dion aufs Auge drücken. Doch da hat Avril nicht mitgemacht, sich kurzerhand einen neuen Produzenten gesucht und 2002 ihr sehr erfolgreiches Erstlingswerk "Let Go" veröffentlicht. Dieses Rockchick weiß eben genau, was es will! Ein bisschen so wie Pipi Langstrumpf, an deren Look sie optisch zeitweise stark erinnerte. 2004 legte Avril dann gleich mit "Under My Skin" nach, das Songwriting war inzwischen noch ausgefeilter.

2006 beschließt das Skater-Punk-Girl offenbar das Ende seines schlabberigen Grunge-Looks, taucht bei Haute-Couture-Modenschauen auf und hat angeblich einen Modelvertrag abgeschlossen. Zusätzlich überrascht Avril mit der Meldung, dass sie ins Filmbusiness geht. Nicht nur für Richard Geres Drama "The Flock" wurde sie gecastet, sie wird auch in der Verfilmung des Bestsellers "Fast Food Nation" von Eric Schlosser neben Hollywoodstars wie Ethan Hawke und Kris Kristofferson zu sehen sein. Na, das wurde aber auch Zeit – schließlich hat Avril 2005 schon ihren 21. Geburtstag gefeiert und will sicher nicht bis in alle Ewigkeit in die Rolle der "Rockgöre" gedrängt werden!

Schlechte Nachrichten für alle Jungs gab’s im Juli 2006: Avril hat ihren Freund Deryck Whibley geheiratet.
